One of the great frustrations with dealing with color and the computer is that one is at the mercy of the vagaries of different monitors and settings. To that end, the colors depicted here can only be an approximation of the actual colors they are intended to represent. In fact, very few of them look exactly like the prototypes even on my monitor, but I am relying on the expertise of Japanese sources that the values I am giving are close approximations of what they are supposed to represent.

To make life a little easier, however, for those interested in seeing exactly what the real colors are, I have gone through the DMC floss chart and attempted where possible to give the floss number closest to the actual color. This way, one can go to the fabric store and pick up a skein of the floss number in question, and attempt to match that to the dyes or fabrics to be used in any reconstructions.

In addition, as indicated in the legend at the left, I am including the RGB code for reproducing it either for the Web or with an RGB-viable graphics program such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
